Volunteer

YOU are a part of the success

Teamwork makes the dream work! Volunteering supports the band’s success and is a rewarding experience. It’s an opportunity to connect with the band community, make friends, and impact young performers. We are always looking for volunteers to help support our kids. Volunteer opportunities come small and large, and any and all contributions are encouraged and appreciated!

Magnolia ISD requires all adults who interact with students during school functions to complete a volunteer application including a criminal background check each year. You can begin the application on the MISD District website found HERE.

The Magnolia HS Band is a successful program because of our volunteers!

Volunteer Opportunities

CHAPERONES

Chaperones will be with the band and color guard through the duration of a game or competition. You will need to arrive approximately one hour before the bus departs. Chaperones will do a lot of walking, mild lifting, and will ride the bus to events. Chaperones assist the students at all times: escorting them to and from the stadium during bathroom breaks, inserting and removing plumes in the student’s shakos, handing out snacks after the marching performance, preparing the bleacher area for the band before the game, ensuring the bleacher area is clean after the game, and other miscellaneous duties that may arise. You will remain in the stands with the students for the entire football game.

HOSPITALITY (pre-game meals)

The group all kids love! This team will ensure that all band and guard members receive a meal before every game. The team will set up for the meal, serve, and clean up the meal area when complete. There may be some meal prep from time to time but most meals are easy to serve and eat.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Photographers capture those special moments of every event! You provide your own equipment and take photos of the band and guard during the games and competitions. The photos can then be uploaded into our private Snapfish account. Students and families love looking at all these pictures!

PIT CREW

Pit crew members help move band equipment on and off the field for performances. This includes the props, front ensemble equipment, and the drum major podiums. While the band equipment is easy to move, there will be lifting involved. You must be able to freely walk while pushing and pulling heavy equipment over 50 Lbs. Pit crew members also help load and unload the band trailers for away games and competitions. Pit crew provides their own transportation to and from events.

Sign ups for any of the above opportunities will begin in August. Information will be provided via the BAND app, social media, and email. Any questions can be sent to the VP of Volunteers.
